At Grommies we have been involved in grass roots surfing for decades, its something that is close to our hearts and something we want to see continue into the future. The next generation of surfers are vital to the ongoing development of the sport, and ultimately just having fun!

Interview with Ed
Tell us about the first wave you caught?
It was in Freshwater West – one foot and clean.
Where is your favourite surf spot?
Has to be Langland on the reef.
Who is your favourite surf buddy?
I like surfing with my brother Dan, the Pountneys and Ryan Vaughan.
What do you like to eat after a surf?
A bacon & egg roll cooked on a barbeque (outside our camper van).
Who’s your surfing hero?
My Dad! He is the current Welsh Masters Champion and he used to be in the Welsh and British Surf Teams.
If you could surf anywhere in the world where would it be? And who would you take with you?
Byron Bay in Australia and I would take Mum, Dad and my two brothers.
What do you do for fun when you are not surfing?
I like football, rugby and I play the guitar. Most of all I like acting – I have been in “Torchwood” and “Totally Dr Who”.
What would you like to be when you grow up?
I would like to be a Pro Surfer, Doctor or an Actor.
What do you think of your boots?
Really nice and comfy. Love the Grommies name!

Where do you surf?
Westward Ho! In North Devon.
How do you get to the beach?
In my Dad’s van!
Who are your surf heroes?
Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater.
Who do you surf with?
My Dad and my mates, Oscar, Charlie, Adam and Summer.
When and how did you get into surfing?
I got into surfing because my Dad does. I started surfing when I was 7.
What do you want to be when you’re older?
A pro surfer or a teacher so I get lots of holidays to go surfing!
What board do you ride?
A NSP 6’4” fish and I have just got a new 6’1” Webber short board.
What are you into in school?
I like PE, ICT and Numeracy.
What do you do if it’s flat?
I skate, ride my bike, play Lego, go on the trampoline or play Wii. I’m in the swiming squad, do Nippers at Bideford Bay Lifesaving Club, and run Cross-Country for Bideford Blues.
